The Silver Gull
The Rotary Club of Geraldton, through its fund raising activities and as the original instigators and mentors of the HMAS Sydney Memorial Mt Scott Geraldton, is relaunching the production of the final numbers remaining of the 645 Limited Edition of The Silver Gull sculptures which were created by the Memorial artists in aid of the continuing development of this great project.
This Sydney Memorial Silver Gull Sculpture is hand crafted individually by the designers of The National Memorial to HMAS Sydney II, Joan Walsh-Smith and Charles Smith of Smith Sculptors.
These unique Sculptures in a Limited Edition of 645, form a solemn part of the Memorial proper. Each sculpture represents a lost crew member embodied in The Dome of Souls and The Pool of Remembrance, making it a prized commemorative link with the Memorial.
The Solid Silver Gull Sculptures, 300mm wing tip to wing tip are exquisitely designed and individually hand sculpted, signed and numbered by the artists/designers of The National Memorial to HMAS Sydney II.
Mounted on a polished granite base, cast in 98% solid Silver, each sculpture forms part of a Limited Edition of 645 sculptures commemorating the 645 men lost on HMAS Sydney 11 on November 19th 1941.
These commemorative sculptures are offered at the special price of Aud $2,995 with one third of the sale price donated in aid of The Memorial, by The Rotary Club of Geraldton. They have been Valued at Aud $4,000 each and come with a Certificate of Appraisal from Odgaard Jewellers.
